Relatively inexpensive pricing keeps all these drawbacks tolerable in a sense, but if you at all care about having a good movie-going experience at a theater, make the drive to Hastings or Kearney or just wait for The Grand Theater downtown to get the movie you're wanting to see. That theater only has one screen (3D as well), but it's by far the best screen in the Tri-City area and best audio system as well.
We enjoyed this movie theater. The staff was polite, got our snacks in a timely manor and the snacks were yummy.
As the only main theater in Grand Island, this is place is a necessary evil for many who want to see a newly released movie in Grand Island. There's been very little in terms of renovation despite switching owners two times. Almost every aspect of this theater is the same from when it opened at least 10 years ago...except the staff who do what they can.
I have had terrible experience at any time of day in regards to the other movie goers behaving. People constantly texting and lighting up the theater. A late night show where someone brought a sleeping baby and an excited toddler who ran the theater the entire time. Of course the employees never assist with these things unless you go get them yourself. Good price for tickets and ok for snacks.
All this is made worse if there's even the slightest amount of noise like a fussy child or someone adjusting themselves in their seats. The audio system is just not good and my guess is that it's either turned down lower than it should be or it's just not a system period. Oh, and don't be fold by the speakers lining the walls in the other smaller theaters. They're literally just there just for show and don't actually output any audio out.
Went to the movies tonight and wasn't impressed, bad enough you have to stand in line for popcorn then have to stand in line for to fill your own drinks!!! Not impressed!!!!
employees really need to step it up and start enforcing no cell phones during the movies. Tired of every movie we go to there is always someone on their cell phone, texting, taking photos or recording the movie. Until this issue is resolved I will no longer visit this theater. Kearney Cinema 8 does not have this problem
There have been SOME modernizations, with the addition of two 3D screens, but they're not of the greatest quality. Ghosting effects and other visual flaws are present most of the time. This could all be excused if the audio system was good...but it's not. Previews are often drowned out by even the mildest chatter, and movies themselves lack any kind of power that makes you feel like you're actually watching a movie at a theater.
